Ember of Vaelor
Ember of Vaelor is a proper mobile RPG with a branching story, a party of five, and turn-based battles that reward planning over button-mashing. You start as a courier caught in a border conflict, and within an hour you're making choices that lock out whole questlines. That weight makes every decision feel real.
Combat uses a timeline system — you queue actions and watch them resolve in order, so positioning and ability timing matter a lot. On a phone it works surprisingly well; everything fits on one thumb-friendly layout. Gear tinkering is deep without being a chore, and the respec option means you can experiment freely.
The writing is the standout. Side characters have arcs that pay off hours later, and the voice work on key scenes is genuinely good. It's a big commitment, but if you want a story to live in, this is it.
